Whenever elections are in the offing, the focus of the politicians and their parties tend to be on domestic matters. Had it not been of the sad events in Gaza, I would do likewise. From the word go, let me reiterate the PAC unflinching support to the dispossessed people of Palestine. Their inalienable right to their land is non-negotiable. Denying the Palestinians or any people for that matter, of the right to self-determination and full sovereignty is a perfect recipe for war.

The blood-thirsty Zionists have once again torn apart the West’s mask of hypocrisy.  On one hand the West is up in arms against Iran developing nuclear technology, but backing the Zionists’ nuclear weapons on the other. If the West had its way, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe would now be dressed up in prison gear somewhere in The Hague, charged with war crimes spanning the period of Chimurenga. Today, the Zionists are annihilating the Palestinian women and children with impunity. No one from the West is calling for the war crime charges against these deranged men and women drunk on the toxic ideology of Zionism.

Zionism, and not Hamas, is the core of the problem in Palestine.

The PAC salutes the justice seeking men and women around the world who have taken to the streets to highlight the plight of the Palestinians. In the same vein, we are baffled by the South African Government’s lip service to the people of Palestine. It’s scandalous that a country ruled by a liberation movement still sells arms to the Zionists, arms that ultimately are used to put down a legitimate resistance against ethnic cleansing. Or is it because those who fund the Zionists are also the chief sponsors of the ruling Party in South Africa? Shame on those who shed crocodile tears while Palestine is bleeding!

Now is the time for the South Africans to boycott goods made in Israel and for the workers not to touch goods destined for Israel. Now is the time for South Africa to recall its ambassador from Israel and to send packing the Israeli ambassador to South Africa. Now is the time to tell the Zionists straight in the face that the Palestinians cannot be stateless and landless forever. Now is the time to take sides, and be on the side of justice, not on the side of dollar. Palestine shall be free!

On my itinerary in Eastern Cape, things are shaping well in the build-up to the launch of our election manifesto in Butterworth, on 24 January 2009.On Tuesday the residents of Mthatha asked me to lead them in a march for better service delivery. What an honour! In the days ahead, before the launch of the manifesto, I’m scheduled to address public meetings in Cofimvaba, Qaukeni, Libode, Buffalo City and Nkonkobe. Also exceedingly important in my schedule will be a meeting with Mrs. Veronica Sobukwe, the widow of the PAC founding President Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe.
